James Melik

James has travelled extensively, for pleasure and work. After running an independent record label in Sheffield for five years, he then spent several months in rural Gloucestershire before ending up at the BBC, working in what was then the nascent teletext service called Ceefax. After a brief spell at CNN he returned to the BBC, this time as a broadcast jounalist with BBC World Service. In conjunction with the British Council and the BBC Trust, he taught journalism in Morocco and Tunisia. Apart from producing programmes and broadcasting radio packages, he has written over 200 features for BBC Online. He has recently completed a biography of the Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus. His next project is Behind the Headlines, which looks at what really goes on in the newsroom. Web page: jamesmelik.com
