Donal McGraith is a writer and editor in the politics of contemporary music and art. His essay, ‘Anti-Copyright and Cassette Culture’ (an “interesting polemic that takes a run at the history of contemporary art and underground music” Clive Robertson, Fuse) was included in the critically acclaimed Sound By Artists (Lander & Lexier ed. Charivari Press Facsimile Edition, 2013). He has also written for Musicworks and Sub Rosa magazines. He wrote the introduction to Rod Dubey's Indecent Acts In a Public Place: Sports, Insolence and Sedition.
Always controversial and provocative, McGraith was once assailed by the arts editor of Canada’s largest newspaper, The Toronto Star, in a front page editorial in the inaugural edition of his new arts section, for MGraith’s written attacks on Canadian cultural icons and his argument that high art abounds with racism, sexism, political apologia and self-indulgence.
