Paul Betts

Paul K. Betts was born in Chicago and raised in Rockford, IL. He graduated from North Park University in Chicago with Bachelors' degree in Music Education. He began his teaching career as a fifth grade teacher in Park Ridge, IL. He subsequently taught in the Wheeling, IL area for a total of 35 years. Needless to say, he loved his career as an educator. Along the way, he picked up his Masters' degree from DePaul University in Chicago.

After retirement, he began work as an educational technology consultant. Eventually, he decided that, while work was fun, researching and writing would be even more fun. Coming from a long line of people who enjoyed keeping track of family history, he was naturally led to investigating his ancestors.

He chose to look into the lives of his great x4 grandparents, Hezekiah and Grace Betts from Norwalk, CT. Hezekiah had joined the Connecticut militia just after his sixteenth birthday in July of 1776. He went on to eventually participate as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His son, Dr. and Rev. Alfred Hanford Betts, became the subject of the next book in what seemed to be the beginning of a line of Family History books, loosely known as the "All in the Family" series.

His latest venture in that regard is a book that features the Scandinavian side of his family.

Another diversion for Mr. Betts is the Chicago Cubs baseball team. In 2015, Mr. Betts was convinced that the Cubbies were going to "win it all." So, he began an extensive diary that captured each game and transaction from the beginning of Spring Training until the heartbreak in September when they fell just short of the World Championship. (As we all know, the Cubs became the World Series Champions the next year, which only shows how prescient Mr. Betts happens to be....he says, while his tongue is firmly pressed into his cheek.)

Paul is married to Suzanne and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
