Brian Hennessy is an Australian author, educator, and psychologist who lived in China for 13 years. These days, he divides his time between Australia and China.
He has been a special school principal and a clinical psychologist in Australia, and a lecturer in Psychology and a commercial consultant in China. He is also a Vietnam veteran (see his book, 'The sharp end: My war in Vietnam').
Brian speaks basic Mandarin, travels widely within China, and is integrated into Chinese society. He has written about mental health matters for Chinese readers; cultural adaptation for expatriates; and Chinese society for his countrymen back home.
His book, 'Get China ready' is written for Westerners who want to understand Chinese culture and manage cultural differences.
Another book, 'An Australian in China: Stories from the hinterland' is a collection of sketches or snapshots of life in China today. Part autobiography, part travelogue, and part opinion, they offer a boots on the ground view of life in the hinterland that you rarely see on the news.
His latest publication is titled. 'Chongqing: an introduction.' It's a guide for visitors (requested by the downtown CQ goverment a few years ago, so it's a little dated by now).
