TEODORO L. BASTERRA

Teodoro L. Basterra (Bilbao, 1961), has a degree in Psychology from the UNED and a Master's degree in Commercial, Civil and Family Mediation. He has studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country and Design and Photography at the School of Arts and Crafts of Corella (Navarra). He currently resides in Logroño (La Rioja).

Founding member of the "Association of Friends of Poetry of La Rioja Baja", his poetic work has been collected in anthologies such as Poemas de mar a mar (2006), Vida de perros. Dog poems (2007), Encuentros (2008), Under another light (2019), and others; while his narrative work has been awarded in various literary competitions such as the Voces de Mujer (Alfaro), the Ciudad de Alfaro; the Villa de Autol, or the Esteban Manuel de Villegas de Nájera (La Rioja). Some of his stories have been published in the book Voces de mujer (2006). All are included in the compilation Saga and anchor (Editions of August 4, 2008). In 2014 he published his first novel: The First Victim (Editorial Ultima Line), a police story about the terrorist attacks in Madrid on March 11, 2004. In 2019 he published his second crime novel, 'The long Saharawi winter', about reality of the conflict. In 2021, he published 'And flowers were born in the Sahara', a small book of 37 short stories where the experiences and emotions felt during the trip he made to the Sahrawi refugee camps in 2019 are manifested.
