Glenna Batson

Glenna Batson, Sc.D., P.T., M.A. has spent her life bridging between dance, human movement science, body-mind disciplines (Somatics) and rehabilitation medicine. For nearly four decades she has evolved a trans-disciplinary approach to teaching and learning.She is professor emeritus of Physical Therapy, Winston - Salem State University USA and Honorary Research Associate Professor in Health and Human Sciences at Wake Forest University, USA. She is a Fulbright Senior Specialist in dance science (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London, 2009; University of Tallinn, Estonia, 2011). An internationally recognized teacher of the Alexander Technique, she has taught in 14 countries. Her research has focused on balance has included improvisational dance in Parkinson's, the Alexander Technique in fall prevention, and validation of dance-specific assessment tools. She is co-editor of Dance, Somatics and Spiritualities: Contemporary Sacred Narratives (Intellect Press).
