Abigail Bok

Abigail Bok's life in Jane Austen began at age 13, when she read all the novels five times without stopping to read anything else--an experience that has colored her life and her language to this day. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on The Watsons, published "A Dictionary of Jane Austen's Life and Works" in the 1980s, and finally succumbed to her obsession by writing a modern-day version of Pride and Prejudice told in Jane Austen's words: An Obstinate, Headstrong Girl.

She is now trying to turn monomania to useful purpose by writing a series of novels, Darking Hundred, set in Surrey in the year 1800. The first book, COLDHARBOUR GENTLEMEN, focuses on the smuggling trade as seen through the eyes of an eleven-year-old boy.
