JT (Jerry) Fest is a youth advocate, consultant, and trainer specializing in the Positive Youth Development approach, Trauma-informed Care, and programs for youth, with specific expertise in programs for runaway and homeless youth. He founded and was the Program Director of Janus Youth Program’s Willamette Bridge; a continuum of programs including streetwork/outreach (Yellow Brick Road of Portland), emergency shelter (Street Light Youth Shelter), transitional living (Bridge House), independent living & case management (Changes), and youth business and partnership programs. In 1987 he developed the “self-government” model for residential services at the Bridge House program; one of the earliest program designs based on the principles of Positive Youth Development.
Today he continues to train and consult with programs and schools across the nation, and also authors books about working with young people, as well as works of fiction.
