Marc Charles

William Marcus Charles II (Marc) is also the author of Simplified Self-defense for Women published by the Marine Corps Association. He was born in Murfreesboro, TN and spent his formative years in Warren, MI. He graduated from Boot Camp in San Diego at nineteen and for the next twenty-four years wore the eagle globe and anchor proudly until retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel of Marines.

Marc has been published twice in the Marine Corps Gazette and once in the Ensign, a global monthly of the LDS Church. Marc spent much of his military career in Asia where he studied martial arts. He attained advanced black belts in Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo (weapons). He has trained in Aikido, Jujitsu, American Kenpo, Shorin-ryu, Judo and other lesser well-known styles. He has traveled extensively around the world and founded two martial arts schools in the states.

Upon retirement Marc put his MBA to use in insurance, stocks and bonds, and finance. Now fully retired Marc spends his golden years writing. He resides in Encinitas, CA with his wife Sako.
