Steven LeRoy Nelson

Steven LeRoy Nelson is an award-winning humorist whose fiction has appeared in Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazines, The Leviathan, Fire and Ice, and other publications.

Steven has Kansas flatlander roots, but was raised in Colorado. He spent his childhood summers camping, fishing, and attempting to get lost in the woods. While growing up, he never accepted the idea that school should be inflicted on children. However, he did develop an early interest in writing stories.

After dropping out of high school for the third time, he somehow ended up in college and — amazingly — graduated with a degree in English. In college he met his future wife, another English major and writer. Twenty-seven years later, they’re still married, with pets.

Steven has worked in factories, libraries, and optical labs. Three years ago he decided to take an early retirement and pursue a writing career. Several novels later, he is rapidly spending his pension and turning to publishing. His hobbies include cow tipping, sheep dipping, and baying at the moon.
