In radio, television and all forms of new media, Bishop Robert Reed sees unlimited possibilities for sharing the wealth of the Catholic Faith. With a passion for television that began early in life, Bishop Reed instinctively understands the power of today’s technology to engage people in the life of the Church.
One of the great joys of his work has been the opportunity to combine his priestly vocation with using television and radio to reach out and connect with people of all ages and in all parts of the country.
With a state-of-the-art HD production facility and a polished online presence augmenting its broadcasts, the network now reaches more than 13 million homes with a variety of programming, 24-hour live streaming and on-demand viewing. During the historic simultaneous canonizations of Pope St. John Paul II and Pope St. John XXIII, for example, the network broadcast and streamed the Canonization Mass, as well as footage chronicling addresses and appearances by both Pontiffs.
Bishop Reed is as comfortable on the air as he is behind the scenes. He hosts a game show and reality series, co-hosts “This is the Day,” the network’s nationally syndicated talk show, and prays the Rosary from different places around the world. He is one of the network’s 19 on-air figures, a group that includes Cardinal Seán O’Malley, who hosts a weekly 30-minute series called “Conversations with Cardinal Seán.”
“My greatest dream for The CatholicTV Network is that it be an effective and powerful national platform for the many dioceses, campuses, parishes, families and individuals that make up the fabric of the Catholic Church in this nation. We are known as America's Catholic Television Network®, and I would like to see us fulfill that expression more fully and faithfully."
