Pascal Bouvet

Pascal BOUVET is an Academic inspector - Regional educational inspector (IA-IPR) for the school district of Versailles: he specializes in ESL teaching and learning. He taught English to middle school and high school students in the regional school districts of Montpellier, Amiens, and Paris. He was a jury member of and trainer for national competitive examinations to recruit English teachers in France (CAPES and Agrégation). He has a passion for the phonology of English, which has led him to conduct an in-depth analysis of the didactic and pedagogical strategies to help students achieve phonological control. He is the editor of a method to help candidates prepare for the ESL lesson-planning test on the CAPES externe d'anglais.

He was a teacher trainer from 2014 to 2022: his training courses generally focused on how to include phonology in ESL classes. Pascal BOUVET has co-authored and co-edited several ESL textbooks for which he was in charge of phonology. In 2020, he was in charge of making and presenting classes on French national television in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic: one of them aimed to help students pronounce the sounds of English and reproduce rhythms and intonation so as to enable them to read aloud an excerpt from 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘦’𝘴 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘞𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥.
