Simon Hammelburg

Simon Hammelburg (Amsterdam, 1952) is a Dutch author, journalist and composer. He started his career in the 1970s as news broadcaster in Holland, being an anchor as well as a traveling journalist. In the 1980s he subsequently became Bureau Chief for the Dutch and Belgium radio and television, and for several newspapers and weeklies.

From early childhood on, Hammelburg composed songs which were recorded in various countries. Together with Ralph Inbar and Floris Sijbesma he produced the video clip ‘Shalom from Holland’ that became a world-wide hit as a token of solidarity for the people of Israel during the first Gulf War (1991). Hammelburg wrote the song together with Ron Klipstein. On the internet you will be able to find hundreds of songs of his, such as 'Only one like you'.

Simon Hammelburg was co-author of several books, including “My Judaism”. His break-through as an author in The Netherlands and Belgium came with the publication of "Kaddisj voor Daisy, herinneringen van Holocaust-overlevenden en hun kinderen" in 1996. Hammelburg is a holocaust educator, and lectures in Europe, the United States and in Israel.
