Hello and welcome to my author page! I'd love to tell you a little bit about my books and a little bit about myself.

The Five Little Penguins series are my first published books. They were born from my daughter's love of penguins, as well as my dream of creating a book together, combining my writing with her illustrations. Five Little Penguins Learn About Numbers came first, inspired by my love of rhyming (one of my favorite children's book authors is Dr. Suess and much to Katie's dismay I love to talk in rhyme). Once we finished putting together a simple draft of that book, intended to be a fun project to give to family and friends; we realized we all loved our five little penguins too much to only create one book about them. Thus Five Little Penguins Learn About Colors and Five Little Penguins Learn About Shapes came into being. And if you check back in 2015, you can learn about the next three penguin adventures we're cooking up! Ultimately Katie and I decided to publish because we're passionate about getting kids interested in reading and learning - and if the Five Little Penguins series can be a resource for parents and teachers, as well as a fun experience for kids - we're thrilled to have played a small part in their education!

I view life as a wonderful adventure – good, bad, happy, or sad, it is ever changing and ever challenging. I love reading – specifically fiction, fantasy, mysteries, and history (especially women in history). And I've loved creating a myriad of different things throughout my life. For many years, I enjoyed being a parent volunteer at my daughter’s school. I had the pleasure of working with some very talented people and with them I got to costume plays, plan and execute themed parties, create extraordinary bulletin boards, and immersive educational events. I think that's why the transition to writing children’s books has been such a good match for me now that I’m an empty nester.
