Heidrun Metzler

Heidrun Metzler is a German-born baker, author, and teacher who grew up learning classic recipes at the side of her mother and grandmother. Their traditions shaped her love for the flavors, textures, and stories of German baking.

After moving to the United States, Heidrun began adapting these heritage recipes for modern home bakers—preserving authenticity while making each bake approachable and reliable. Her award-winning book, German Heritage Baking Volume I, has been recognized by the National Indie Excellence Awards and the American Legacy Book Awards.

Heidrun teaches through baking videos and detailed technique demonstrations, helping bakers master everything from folding and texture control to achieving authentic German textures with American ingredients.

Her upcoming companion volume continues her mission of bringing authentic German baking and European baking into today’s kitchens in a clear and accessible way.
