Brian Schrank

Brian Schrank is a game developer and assistant professor at DePaul University who works with folk games, physical games and more. His book "Avant-gardeVideogames: Playing with Technoculture" places games within the context of art history and the avant-garde. His VR game "Dumpy: Going Elephants" leverages the affordances of VR to make input intuitive for inexperienced players. His controversial game "Pedandeck" challenges conventions by prompting people to play cards such as Grammar Nazi and the Race Card in their everyday lives. Schrank has developed games and toys Motorola, Qualcomm, and Cartoon Network. He earned his Ph.D. in digital media and videogames from Georgia Tech.
