John Coombes

John Coombes born 1951 at Newton Abbot Devon and spent my very early years out walking the country side with my Mums brothers from the age of three which is were I got the bug for walking and later on writing walking books. I first started writing technical books for Television repairs back in 1976 up to 2007 with a total of 28 books and then I retired from the industry. It was then I found photographer and writing about walks and with the aid of Amazon Kindle it blended in beautifully with G.P.S and the aid of electronic maps, to enter the modern day eBook which is slowly expanding and at sometime will remove the need for every day books hence fitting in with the throw away nation.

I have always taken my best friends on walks with me being Lady, Bonny and Amber, that is two Labradors and one Standard Poodle. Sadly the Labradors are now gone but you can still see Amber and myself all over the country. The Meandering Walking Series is very adaptable to walks anywhere in the U.K. So once I have done several walks in Devon I plan to cover Gloucestershire of which there is now three books with Meandering in Gloucestershire, Meandering Pub Walks in Gloucestershire and the new Meandering the Severn Vale, Somerset, Cornwall with the Shropshire book due out in 2017 and so is Lincolnshire. Then there is Dorset, Worcestershire and Countryside and Coast Walks in Devon along with Meandering in South Hams. A good walk also keeps you fit and it never stops being exciting out seeing different things from different angles instead of from a car.
