Karen M (Ryant) Hutzel (author name KM Ryant Hutzel) grew up on a small family farm near Spillville, IA. She is married with two grown children. Her family is one of the greatest joys of her life.

Karen’s childhood memories and love of children made writing /publishing children’s books a natural choice. At this time, she has written / published “The Adventures of Chico the House Mouse” and “Macon the Monkey Goes to Kindergarten” and "Fenella and the Enchanted Forest".

Her books are unique as they draw in the reader as they try to guess the ending. The reader will experience Chico’s nighttime adventure around the house as his family is sleeping. Imagine the kind of fun a little mouse can find! Or imagine what happens when a Kindergartner sneaks his pet monkey (Macon) to school for show and tell and then Macon sneaks out of the classroom and starts exploring the school!
