There are a number of golf courses near the school where I taught. Several teachers and I would often get in nine holes after work. During the summers I got to play quite a bit. When I got home I would write down what I had learned. It became a habit whether I played, practiced, or took lessons.
I have been a marshal at a couple of tournaments for several years now. To be up close to the best players in the world is quite an experience. I learn a lot and try to carry what I've absorbed onto the golf course.
Now that I am retired I get to play more often. I continue to learn, especially in the short game. Putting and chipping come and go, and as an average player I just try to get the most out of my ability. The game is still fun and the good days make it all worthwhile.
