Candace Czarny

Candace Czarny spent thirty-five years asking why systems underperform.

Her work was Fortune 500 facilities management — diagnosing the gap between how a building was designed to perform and how it actually performed. She was among the first Certified Facility Managers in the world, served as LEED Project Manager on the first Gold-certified building in Arizona, and taught the Certified Facility Manager certification programs for IFMA beginning in 1991. She holds the NCIDQ certification and LEED AP accreditation, and her design work earned the ASID Design Excellence Award.

The pattern she kept finding was that environment governs outcome more than effort does. Change what surrounds a system and the system changes — usually without anyone working harder.

Eventually she turned the question inward. If environment governs how a building performs, what governs how a person performs in the moment that actually counts? That question took her through design, through Feng Shui, and past both — to the place underneath the noise where a person already knows what they know.

She calls that place First Cause.
