Bill Fairclough, born in England in 1950, lived a remarkable double existence as both an intelligence agent and a senior international business executive. He was one of Pemberton's People in MI6 and for decades specialised in infiltration and investigatory assignments for intelligence agencies including MI5, MI6 and the CIA.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), formerly Coopers & Lybrand where Bill Fairclough had been employed from 1969 to 1983, has independently attested that he was a “career spy”. PwC has been and continues to be one of the world's leading accountancy, audit and professional services firms; it employs hundreds of thousands of staff around the world.
Covertly, whilst simultaneously pursuing a distinguished career as a British Chartered Accountant, in the early 1970s, Bill Fairclough began working with MI6 and later with other intelligence agencies. In 1978 he co-founded a niche global intelligence organisation, FaireSansDire, together with Colonel Alan Pemberton CVO MBE of MI6 and Barrie Parkes BEM of British Intelligence. FaireSansDire has since operated under various guises in over 120 jurisdictions.
Overtly, alongside operating as an intelligence agent and running FaireSansDire for more than forty years, Bill Fairclough held senior roles in major international corporations. At Coopers & Lybrand, he became Secretary to the International Executive Committee reporting to Coopers & Lybrand's CEO Sir Brandon Gough. From 1983 to 1986 he served as a Vice President at Citigroup and thereafter as a Director of major international businesses in the Barclays Bank and Reuters Groups, amongst other regulated financial services businesses.
Bill Fairclough is also the author of Beyond Enkription, the first of six fact based autobiographical spy thrillers in The Burlington Files series, based on his real life intelligence experiences.
