A veteran, constantly touring troubadour, Ellis Paul [www.EllisPaul.com] is one of the most respected artists in the folk/singer-songwriter genre. He has performed up to 200 shows annually for over 20 years, appearing at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and clubs and coffeehouses all over the world. His 2014 release, 'Chasing Beauty' was produced by Kristian Bush, the founder of the platinum selling band Sugarland. Albert Whitman & Co. a prestigious children's book publisher will release a book/CD package of "The Hero in You", a project honoring Woody Guthrie, Rosa Parks, Albert Einstein, Georgia O'Keeffe and others.
As one of the top American singer-songwriters, Ellis has won numerous awards including an unprecedented 15 Boston Music Awards. He is the 2014 University of Maine commencement speaker, honorary degree recipient and even wrote the school's alma mater. He was inducted into the Maine Music Hall of Fame with Don Mclean and others this summer to further his songwriting accolades.
It's Paul's literate streak that inspires his songs to be featured in numerous TV shows as well as Hollywood films such as: "Me, Myself & Irene", "Hall Pass" and "Shallow Hal", directed by his big fans, The Farrelly Brothers.
Ellis was heavily influenced by the folk stylings of Woody Guthrie, and critics have said Paul has successfully bridged the gap between traditional and modern folk music. Nora Guthrie, Woody’s daughter, invited Paul to co-write a song from her father's archives of lyrics. Nora has said, "Ellis is one of our best human compasses, marking in melodies and poems where we've been and where we might go if we so choose to."
