Bill Gardner attended Wichita State University where he earned both a BBA in marketing and a BFA in design. He is the president of Gardner Design, which has produced effective and award winning results for such industry leaders as Cessna, Spirit AeroSystems, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Coleman Outdoor, Kroger, Hallmark, Cargill Corporation, Busch Gardens, Wichita State University, RedGuard, Visit Wichita and many more.
Bill’s design work has appeared or been featured in Communication Arts, Print, Graphis, New York Art Directors, the Museum of Modern Art and many other national and international design exhibitions. His works and writings regarding corporate identity, environmental graphics and three-dimensional design have been published in numerous books and periodicals. He also has judged various design competitions nationally and internationally, including Communication Arts Design Annual and AIGA design competitions.
Bill is the founder of www.logolounge.com, the international, cross-referenced compendium of logos from the world’s leading corporate identity designers. He authored the best selling book series LogoLounge Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, as well as Initials and Crests, Animals and Mythology, Type and Calligraphy, and Shapes and Symbols, the first four volumes of the LogoLounge Master Library Series. This set explores in depth the past, present and future of various categories of identity design.
Summer 2013 marked the release of Bill’s highly anticipated book Logo Creed: The Mystery, Magic, and Method Behind Designing Great Logos. This book from Rockport Publishers serves as a foundation textbook for students, educators and professionals alike.
Bill speaks nationally and internationally on identity trends and logo development.He is the author of the annual LogoLounge Logo Trend Report, published by Graphic Design USA and other publications throughout the world. The 2015 report marked the 13th in the series, which is released each year in May. He also has teamed up with Lynda.com, an authority on online tutorials, to produce a series of videos through which he offers insight into the world of logo design.
And, Bill recently became the first recipient of the Fellow Award from the AIGA Wichita chapter for his contributions to the local, national and global design community.
