Jean contracted the "writing bug" in elementary when her first "novel" was published in the school newspaper, a mimeographed inky affair, but no matter, her desire to write was born. In fact, the love of literature started years before, when her mother read the Madeline books to her. Jean started her professional life as a high school English teacher. She went on to earn her Ph.D. in English literature and taught college English for a time before turning to telecommunications where she was an executive in education and training for many years. Now she has returned to her first love and has published fiction, poetry, and non-fiction in literary journals, magazines, and newspapers. She lives with her husband, Steve, live in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Water on the Moon, her first novel, won the IPPY 2015 gold award for contemporary fiction. Her poetry chapbook, Time's Tyranny, was published in 2017. Tilda's Promise, a novel was published in 2018 and won the NYC Big Book Award in contemporary fiction, 2019. Her new novel. Crossing from Shore to Shore, is published by Running Wild Press, February, 2025.
