Born in 1922 in Dečin, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, Miloš was a patriotic seventeen year old when World War II broke out in 1939. Along with his best friend Mirek Smišek, Miloš spent the war years in Nazi forced labour camps and concentration camps before gaining their freedom in 1945. After the war, Miloš worked at the British Intelligence Service where is ability to speak seven languages was a recognized asset. Miloš emigrated to Australia and he eventually settled in Sydney, where he published his memoirs at the age of eighty in 2002.
