Simon Smith

Simon Smith grew up in the town of Port Talbot, between the hills and the sea of the Welsh coast, and still lives there to this day with his wife, daughter and two crazy cats.

By trade Simon is a teacher, but between reams of lesson planning and marking he can be found walking or sharing a glass of wine with his wife, tapping away at a new writing project in his study or standing on a beach, doing his best to look effortlessly nonchalant in driving rain and a force seven gale.

Simon’s writing reflects his literary tastes, which are varied and eclectic. He writes poetry and essays about subjects as diverse as angling, day-to-day life, the natural world and everything in between. He also writes fantasy fiction, the first genre that really enthralled him as a young boy who stayed up way past his bedtime reading Tolkien by streetlight on his bedroom windowsill.

Simon is the author of two angling books: Running with the Tide, published by the Medlar Press and Waiting for a Hunter’s Moon, from Cambria Books. He is also the author of The Last Midwinter, the first novel in the urban fantasy series The Great Equilibrium Chronicles.

Simon occasionally writes a blog which can be found at waitingforahuntersmoonblog so head over for a look if you have a spare minute.
