John Thurman

John Thurman, M.Div., M.A., is an accomplished author, speaker, and therapist with over fifty years of experience in the helping profession. He has spent fifty years standing with people in their worst moments. As an Army Chaplain for 22 years, he served in the U.S. Army's Burn Unit, helped develop religious support plans for Desert Storm, and provided ministry support following the Gander Air Crash. As a crisis responder, he has been on the ground at 280 critical incidents, from natural disasters to mass shootings.

He has logged more than 70,000 hours of counseling across five decades of ministry.

What sets John apart from other voices in the Christian living space is not only his credentials, which include two master's degrees and suicide-prevention training at the Mayo Clinic, but also the fact that he has personally walked through loss, depression, and PTS. Every tool in his books has been field-tested by the author before it ever reached the page.

John writes in a practical, conversational voice that blends Scripture with proven psychological principles. He does not traffic in empty encouragement or shallow platitudes. He brings the clarity of a trained chaplain, the compassion of a seasoned counselor, and the hard-won perspective of someone who has sat across from people in genuine crisis and helped them find solid ground.

His work has been featured in Focus on the Family and Today's Christian Woman. He hosts the Resilient Faith Podcast and Blog, where he continues to equip Christians with the mindset, Scripture, and skills to stand strong in life's storms.
