My novel, 'Here Casts No Shadow,' was published in April 2018. Set in the fictitious country of Lyrian, and partly based on events in Syria, this is a story of war, revenge and flight. I work with Syrian refugees and campaign for justice and accountability for Syria - some of this experience is woven into the book.
My first novel, 'A Bird in the House' came out in 2104. The inspiration for that book came after a walking holiday in the southern desert region of Libya in February 2011. I, and my fellow walkers, were airlifted out of Libya by the Italian military when it became unsafe for us to stay there.
My book of flash fiction and short stories, 'Not Here, Not Us' - based on stories from the Syria crisis came out in 2016, and my flash fiction memoir, 'Listen with Mother' was published in 2019 (Silverhill Press, Hastings).
My flash fiction and poems have been widely published on-line and in a number of anthologies.
I'm currently working on a novella about a woman abandoned on a tiny lighthouse island.
