The author's immense love of cats began on the family dairy farm, in upstate New York. Upon learning there are many homeless cats, with millions dying annually in shelters and on the streets, she knew there was no other option but to dedicate her life to helping them.

Rescuing cats from kill shelters and particularly, from horse training centers, a need to do even more was imminent. At the age of 25, Barbazon began a non-profit organization, Feline Estate, Inc. Personally handling every phone call and each cat that came in, she was infused with a plethora of knowledge about cats.

Since the start of the no-kill 501 (c) 3, tax-exempt organization in 2001, much recognition has befallen on the charity and it's founder. Local newspapers and magazines, such as Ocala Style, has featured Barbazon's work in their writings. In 2005, Cat Fancy Magazine selected her to hold the title of Ms. Cat Fancy, due to her dedication to helping homeless cats.

Her goal of writing Justice For Cats: Caring for Your Cat & Starting a Shelter, is to educate more people on the plight of homeless pets and to make America a no-kill nation. We can absolutely become a no-kill nation, we just need more participation of everyone doing something to help the cause. Spending existing funds at kill shelters, in a different way, is also necessary. This is very possible and millions of lives are at stake here. Each one of us can make a difference!
