In my 30 years at the Bureau of Reclamation as a technical writer and decision process facilitator, I wrote guides. I interviewed over 200 leaders in government and beyond to glean their insights for my 1990s Decision Process Guide: How to Succeed in Government. My latest (2022) incorporated Decisionmaking Under Deep Uncertainty--a planning strategy for robust solutions that will work in a wide range of potential futures. After I retired, I adapted these concepts for personal strategies (Self Care in Uncertain Times) and community strategies (World Care in Uncertain Times). I have incorporated a lot of this uncertainty thinking from moment to moment since I was a child as I live with a rare disease where I do not know from one day to the next which limb will "subluxate" and stop functioning for a few minutes to a few days.
