Gloria W. Nye

Gloria W. Nye has spent a lifetime learning, teaching, writing, and following her curiosity wherever it leads.

A special education teacher for 45 years, Gloria has always been fascinated by the many different ways people learn, grow, discover, and make sense of their lives. That curiosity has found its way into an unusually varied collection of books—from historical fiction and short stories to educational books, personal-growth titles, and activity books created especially for seniors.

Gloria is the author of the four published novels in the Dragonfly Series: The Hidden Vow, The Broken Promise, The Forbidden Path, and The Missing Piece. The series had an unusual beginning. A short story came to her through a dream, but the story refused to remain short. It eventually became The Hidden Vow, and the dragonfly continued its journey through different lives and different periods of history. She is now exploring where the dragonfly might take her next in a fifth novel, with the working title The Everlasting Journey.

Her short fiction has also received recognition at several Ontario literary festivals, including the Elora Writers' Festival, Words Alive Literary Festival, and Eden Mills Writers' Festival, and her work has been shortlisted by The Writers' Union of Canada.

Gloria's years as an educator continue to influence her writing. Whether she is telling a story, helping a child discover the magic of learning, exploring personal growth, or creating an enjoyable large-print puzzle book for older adults, she brings the same qualities to her work: curiosity, encouragement, imagination, and respect for the reader.

She continues to create books for readers of different ages and interests—books designed to entertain, encourage, inspire curiosity, and, sometimes, simply provide a few enjoyable hours.

Gloria is also expanding her collection of books for older adults. Following her large-print Word Search for Seniors, she is creating a companion coloring book using many of the charming illustrations originally developed for the word-search collection.

She remains as curious about what she will create next as she hopes her readers are.
