Philip D. Shenefelt, MD is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery on faculty at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dr. Shenefelt completed his undergraduate bachelor of science degree in zoology with honors, his MD degree, and his master of science in administrative medicine degree all at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has been practicing clinical dermatology in the university faculty setting for over 35 years, first at the University of Wisconsin and then at the University of South Florida. His special interest areas include contact dermatitis, integrative dermatology, herbs in dermatology, psychodermatology, and hypnosis in dermatology. He is board certified by the American Board of Medical Hypnosis, which is recognized by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and a Fellow of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Dr. Shenefelt is past president of the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He has published over 50 peer reviewed articles and many book chapters. Dr. Shenefelt is a co-editor of “Integrative Dermatology” in the Andrew Weil series on integrative medicine as well as the author of 5 of its chapters.
