Jorge Lulic

Jorge Lulić begun a lifelong exploration in representational drawing and painting as a child, encouraged by his mother, Chilean artist Jovita Concha.

Jorge Lulić gained a B.Ed from Durham University, UK and taught Visual Communication, Art and design before working as a lecturer, freelance artist and youth and community leader. Lulić has also illustrated various popular children’s books including a series based around English folklore. His photography journal book 'Dear Chile' was awarded the winner of the United Kingdom GO ON UK Personal Impact digital photography competition - Photography Digital Skills Awards 2014.

Working in pastel, ink and watercolour Jorge enjoys experimenting in a variety of media though his true passion remains oil painting. Impressionistic in style, Lulić draws his inspiration from his surroundings and portrays the beauty and affection of places he feels a deep connection with.

From the arid landscape of the Atacama Desert in his home country to the romantic streets of Paris, the lush green rolling fields of North East England and the warm sun, sand, sea and mountains of Denia, Spain, his second home.

"I like to work with a variety of art mediums including experimenting with digital art but the process for me still the same as it was many years ago. I come from the old school with no ipads or computers sketching and drawing with paper and pencil was the basis to everything you created. My illustrations and designs in my books start very much in the same way as when I was at art college all those years ago on a blank piece of paper!"
