Craig A. Garner, who is a resident of Irvington N.J., began writing poetry over thirty years ago as a therapeutic method of dealing with what was then considered some stressful situations on his job as a software engineer. He broke into the Information Technology field as one of the first African Americans pursuing that career path and had many challenges. But through the years he also learned to used poetry to help him move on from situations that were weighing heavily on his mind. Since then he has been married, had two children and graduated from Kean University. He has used his poetry as an "ice breaker" for many of his technical speeches and has used his poetry to read to students as numerous Celebrity Read events. He has also used poetry to embellish special occasions such as the Irvington Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. Craig's straight forward style grabs your attention right away and keeps you wanting to read more. His latest book "You Never Miss Your Water..." is a tribute to those great author/activist that have dedicated their lives so we could be here today.
