This book was a labor of love that took the author almost 6 years to complete. Although a work of fiction he has tried hard to make this book as historically accurate as possible with the historical events that the main character participates in and the historical characters that he encounters. While writing the book I saw the painting in a magazine that depicted a centurion from the 2d Legion Augusta, which is the legion that the main character served in during part 2 of the book, so I felt it had to be used for the cover.
