Olaf Zimmermann

Olaf Zimmermann — born in 1961, second chance of education, then traineeship as an art dealer. He then worked as the manager of various galleries and as an art dealer. In 1987 he founded a gallery for contemporary art in Cologne and Mönchengladbach.

Zimmermann has been Managing Director of the German Cultural Council since March 1997. He is also the publisher and editor-in-chief of Politik & Kultur, the newspaper of the German Cultural Council and publicist.

In 2020 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Federal Cross of Merit).

Zimmermann is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Digital Games Culture Foundation, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, spokesman for the Cultural Integration Initiative and co-publisher
