I had the honor and pleasure of spending forty-five years with my grandmother, my Nana, Lena Goodman Herzberg. The times I spent in her kitchen were filled with food, memories and lessons to be learned. Lena's life mirrored the last century with stories of the 1918 Flu Epidemic, when she lost a sister and aunt; The Great Depression, when families were so poor she eloped; War II when all her brothers marched off to war... and returned; and many more stories that defined US history, from a Jewish standpoint.

I wrote this as a tribute to her memory and to keep her alive for future generations.

Welcome to Nana Lena's Kitchen. Pull up a chair and have a nosh.
