“Heininger’s debut novel offers a vibrant, memorable cast of well-developed characters… a nostalgic portrayal of social upheaval in the 1960s that’s sure to strike a chord with those who lived it.”
– Kirkus Reviews
Jan Heininger was born in Ohio and raised in Michigan during the tumultuous counter-culture shift of the 1960s.
After he was "invited" to leave business school for "inhaling" he studied theater and acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
In the '70s, he performed in several New York experimental theater pieces before moving to L.A., where he continued acting, landing roles in films The Manitou (with Tony Curtis and Burgess Meredith) and Day of the Animals (with Leslie Nielson and Christopher George). In between acting jobs he worked in film production on such notables as Flashdance, The Woman In Red, Thief of Hearts and Protocol before eventually channeling his creative energies into a writing career.
As a result of his efforts, he received a Emmy nomination for writing the TV game show Scrabble and penned other shows including: Michael Landon's Highway To Heaven, Trump Card, Dick Clark's Challengers, Trivial Pursuit, Family Channel's Masters of the Maze and ESPN's Sports On Tap.
Venturing into the so-called real world of traditional business, he found himself in demand at various Fortune 500 companies looking for his unique spin on advertising copy supporting an array of iconic worldwide brands.
After June is his first novel. Currently he is a freelance writer in the Los Angeles area and is producing a second novel.
