As readers probably guess from the variety of my books, my life has been at least that varied. I was raised on a dairy farm near Aztec, New Mexico, hauling hay, milking cows, etc. Not a lot of fun but I was outdoors and learned to work. In school my main interest was sports: football, wrestling, and track and field. It was fun though I was never the hero I wanted to be.

In spite of concentrating on sports, I did well in school, becoming a National Merit Scholar and getting the top score in the state on a standard physics exam. In fact I fell in love with physics and majored in the subject at Brigham Young University. That taught me logic and critical thinking.

I have also been a missionary in Peru, Ecuador, and Mexico so I speak fluent Spanish and am familiar with the cultures of those areas.

I also love mountains and have been a mountain rescue volunteer for over 35 years.

I am also interested in politics, mainly because it affects our lives so much. I want to support freedom and limited government in this country.
