Philip Howe

Artist and author Philip Howe has done numerous book and magazine covers during his long illustration career, but his real passion is writing and painting.

"I didn't initially plan to illustrate my novels until I tested a few images and found that readers really enjoy looking at the sequence of illustrations as they make their way through the story. It took me years to work out the characters, build and finesse sets and backgrounds, then fit them to the plot. Adding animations to the iPad version was quite extensive but I loved doing it. I know the value of good illustrations, they bring a lot more magic to the reading experience. Beyond that, the story itself is very solid, full of wonder and emotion. I loved writing the action scenes, especially the large epic battles and the tense drama played out by several of the intriguing characters."
