Juri Vancans

Juri Vancans was born in Riga, Latvia. In 1944 his family escaped from the invading Russian army to Nazi Germany where they were processed through a concentration camp, survived air raids and hunger and were sometimes caught in the chaos of combatting German, Russian and Allied armies.

After living in a UN refugee camp in Germany for five years, his family immigrated to America.

Juri attended NYU, studied drama with Stella Adler and served in the US Army. He is married with three children and lives in upstate New York.

Juri is the author of "The Bushido Element," a novel Kirkus Review called ---"thriller, that---profoundly examines the consequences of war---.

"Beyond Denial" is his most recent novel in which World War II plays a vital role.
