Janet Raye Stevens

Janet Raye Stevens grew up surrounded by, books. Her mother defined the term voracious reader and Janet eagerly followed in her footsteps, haunting every bookstore, bookmobile and public library within a 50-mile radius.

At the age of 10, Janet decided she wanted to do what the authors of the books she loved did – write. Her first story was for a class assignment, “The Day My Teacher Wore a Miniskirt to School.” She got a C-minus. She also got a lot of laughs, and that was all the encouragement she needed to keep writing.

Fast-forward a few years and Janet now writes historical mysteries, romantic suspense, time travel, and the occasional Christmas romance with humor and heart. She also writes YA sci-fi and 1970s-set coming of age as Evie Kelley. Janet/Evie's work has been recognized multiple times, including as a finalist in the Derringer and Killer Nashville Silver Falchion awards, as a Claymore Award Top Pick, and winning the Daphne du Maurier award for the WWII-set paranormal suspense, A Moment After Dark.

Janet/Evie lives, writes, and drinks copious amounts of tea at her home in Massachusetts.
