Virgilio Rojas

Virgilio Rojas (b 1957, pob Manila, Philippines) took undergraduate and graduate studies in Economic History at the Department of Economic History at the University of Stockholm in the late 80s--early 90s and between 1998-2004. He was research assistant at the Seminar for Development Studies, Department of Government at the University of Uppsala between 1993-1997. He served as technical editor of the book Democratization in the Third World: Concrete Cases in Comparative and Theoretical Perspective, co- edited by Professors Lars Rudebeck and Olle Törnqvist and published by Macmillan Press Ltd. in London in 1996 & 1998.

He was awarded research grants by the University-stewarded Kinanders Foundation for three consecutive years between 2001-2004 and the Swedish Agency for Research Cooperation (SAREC) in 1998. He taught and supervised undergraduate & monographic courses in "Global Economic History" and "Transnational Organised Crime" at the Department of Economic History, Stockholm University between 1998-2004. A few of his academic works in the themes of Gender & Work, Historical Sociology, Latin American Economic History, Criminal and Colonial History, Social Movements, Post-Colonial Urban History are now available and downloadable for free at Scribd.com/siokoyr.

Currently, he works for the City Government of Stockholm in the field of Social Psychiatry.
