Anna M Evans

I am a poet, editor, translator, and teacher, of British birth but now living in Hainesport, NJ.

Typically I write poetry, and formal poetry at that--my specialty is the sonnet. My sonnet collection, Sisters & Courtesans, is a series of persona poems following women throughout history. I have been three times a finalist for the Howard Nemerov sonnet award, and my three-sonnet sequence, "Zeitgeber," was the winner of the 2012 Rattle Reader's Choice award.

You can find "Zeitgeber" in my chapbook, The Stolen From, which is a collection of poems about Alzheimer's and memory. This is also the theme of the most recent anthology I have edited, Forgetting Home.

Under Dark Waters: Surviving the Titanic, examines my mother's fatal illness through the lens of the Titanic disaster. My chapbook, The Unacknowledged Legislator, collects all my poems with a political theme. My most recent project, The Quarantina Chronicles, examines life under the pandemic lockdown in April.

I have two daughters, a miniature schnauzer, and a husband, and in my free time my secret vices are local politics and urban fantasy novels.
