A multiple Pushcart Prize nominee, Jim Doering was born and lived the first few years of his life in Southampton, New York, with a brief stop after in Columbus, Ohio. The rest of his childhood was spent in St. Louis. He studied at the University of Missouri, Columbia, before moving to Kansas City. He intends to eventually continue his migration west, so keep your fingers crossed, Boise.
At different points in his life he has been a corporate drone and booth wrangler, a competitive chess player, a broadcaster, a musician and singer, a public speaker and debater, a financial expert and an art collector. He served as an altar boy unscathed, and it has been speculated that somehow he has become his own uncle.
Jim's work has been featured in The Salmagundi: An Anthology, Affinty: An Anthology, Meat For Tea, the University of Iowa's Daily Palette, Dual Coast Magazine, Prime Number Magazine, Blue Monday Review and Mad Scientist Journal, among many others. His columns have appeared in Kansas City Parent Magazine and Metro Voice newspaper. He has also served as Executive Editor of the literary magazine Blue Monday Review.
