Dave Vander Meer

Dave Vander Meer was born and raised in southern Ontario where he developed a love for the forests and rivers that he explored and where he began his trapping adventures. At an early age, after reading many books about the far north, books like Traplines North, Mink Mary and Me and North to Cree Lake the ever shrinking wilderness areas of southern Ontario stirred a longing in him to see the northern wilderness. At 18 years of age he moved to the north and began trapping on a large trapline far from any civilization. At 20 he became the youngest trapping instructor in Ontario and trapped on several different lines, always following the desire to see new country and explore new wilderness areas. He now resides in Manitoba where he continues to trap and operate a big game hunting business.
