Brian C. H. Fong

Brian C. H. Fong is a cross-sectoral and transnational scholar. He is currently Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Social Sciences at National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan). He also holds adjunct positions at the National Defense University (USA), the Pacific Forum (USA), SOAS University of London (UK) and University of the Ryukyus (Japan).

Professor Fong has more than 25 years of professional experience across the university, government, and think-tank sectors in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Before joining National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan in 2022, he served as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor in the Department of Asian and Policy Studies at the Education University of Hong Kong (2013–2022), Lecturer in the Division of Social Sciences at City University of Hong Kong (2008–2013), and Executive Officer in the Hong Kong Government (2001–2007).

Specialising in Great Power Competition, Professor Fong has published more than 100 scholarly and policy works, including articles published in leading SSCI-indexed journals such as International Affairs, Democratization, Nations and Nationalism, The Pacific Review, Journal of Chinese Political Science, and The China Quarterly.
