David J. Holcombe

Dr. David Holcombe is currently the Regional Administrator/Medical Director of the Office of Public Health, Region VI (Central Louisiana). Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he attended the U. of California at Davis, and subsequently the U. of Florida in Gainesville, where he obtained a MSA. He received his MD from the Catholic U. of Louvain in Brussels, Belgium and did his residency in internal medicine at a Johns-Hopkins affiliated clinic in Baltimore. He worked for 20 years as an internist at the Freedman Clinic of Internal Medicine in Alexandria, Louisiana, before taking his current position with the Office of Public Health. Besides medicine, Dr. Holcombe is actively involved in the arts as both a painter and art collector. He has also published a number of scientific articles, as well as several collections of short stories and plays. He and Nicole, his charming wife of 31 years, have taught Czech folk dancing to the Czech communities of Kolin and Libuse, Louisiana for many years.
