After working several weeks in a summer camp, the owner of the camp called me over to speak with him. He was a tough former police officer and a High School Dean. I was sure I was in trouble. He said to me " I've been watching you.You are very good with the kids. You are going to be a teacher one day." That was over thirty years ago and in some ways it set me on the path and journey that has led me to today. Over the years I have been fortunate to have multiple opportunities presented to me. Simultaneous to my years that I was school based, as well as my years on a district level I have taught on the graduate level, been trained and certified by multiple universities and worked with national level trainers. As an author I have synthesized all those experiences to offer my perspective and support to teachers in an effort to create the culture and tone in their classroom that will deepen relationships and improve academic outcomes.I love what I do and always have. I heeded Mark Twain's words and feel fortunate to have found in my vocation a vacation. Chasing Down the C.A.T. is written for a brand new teacher as well as the veteran teacher who seeks renewal. It should be used as a guide to return back to over time as situations present themselves. Syndicated talk show host Michael Dresser took it a step further while interviewing me and said " this book is for everybody." As an author, speaker and consultant I remain optimistic in making a difference in people's lives in their work with students.
