Lydia Patton is Professor of Philosophy at Virginia Tech, and an affiliate of the program in Science and Technology Studies. She is the Editor in Chief of HOPOS: The Journal of the International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science (2017-2021), and is on the Executive Board of the Committee for Integrated History and Philosophy of Science. She was a Harper-Schmidt Fellow and Collegiate Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago from 2004-2007, and a Visiting Fellow at the Pitt Center for Philosophy of Science in 2009.
Dr. Patton has taught courses on the History of Philosophy of Science at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Chicago, and McGill University, as well as at Virginia Tech. Her current work focuses on instruments and experiments in the history and philosophy of science, and on the development and progress of scientific knowledge.
